ATLANTA (March 3, 2022) | Today, Senate Bill 537, sponsored by Sen. Harold Jones II (D – Augusta), passed the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Consumer Affairs. SB 537 would create the Georgia Food Security Advisory Council, which will be charged with eradicating food insecurity in Georgia.
Rep. Glanton Commends House Passage of Military Retirement Tax Exemption Legislation
ATLANTA – State Representative Mike Glanton (D-Jonesboro) commends the House passage of House Bill 1064, legislation which would create a tax exemption for military retirement income. Rep. Glanton previously co-sponsored similar legislation, House Bill 7, during the 2019 legislative session to create this tax exemption for military retirees.
Democratic Legislators File Complaints Against Attorneys Involved in Ahmaud Arbery Case
ATLANTA – State Representatives Sandra Scott (D-Rex), Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta), Rhonda Burnough (D- Riverdale) and Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain) recently filed complaints with the State Bar of Georgia against three attorneys who were involved in the Ahmaud Arbery homicide case. The State Bar of Georgia responded to each complaint and dismissed the grievances.
